YANTO SIANIPAR

Yanto Sianipar manages the Chevron IndoAsia corporate role in the strategic policy, government and public affairs.

He has held a number of senior management positions in the biggest oil company in Indonesia especially in upstream operation. He was General Manager Sumatra Light South Operation Unit in Minas where he managed the biggest oil reservoir outside of middle east in 2005 until 2008. He successfully maintained the production of this very mature oil field production despite the challenged of operating of an old giant field safely. In 2001 he was Manager Corporate Health, Environment and Safety. During this period he managed corporate strategies, tactical plans and guidance for HES activities and assists top executives in improving HES performance in the Sumatra Operation Area.

He led and managed the well work operations at Duri Operations as Team Manager Well Work in 1998. Overall scope includes the management of 12 company hoists, 23 contractor rigs, 5 coil tubing units, 120 heavy equipments, 1 maintenance shop and 1 satellite warehouse with total employees of 225 personnel and 2,500 contractors. Prior that he was Team Manager Field Operations and Maintenance where he manage operation of the biggest steam flood oil field injection in the world, Duri Steam Flood in West Duri Area. He managed more than 715 employees and contractor, 1500 oil producers and 500 injectors wells, 20 test/CVC station and more than 65 million US Dollar operating and capital cost per year budget.

Previously he held position of Senior Coordinator of Exploration, Production and Technology in Jakarta to facilitate government project approval process, Strategic Planner and Senior Reservoir Engineer. He coordinated various joint team works with BPPKA/MIGAS professional and managements, negotiating projects and contract and financial incentive approval. He was Quality Coordinator in Duri Operation Area in 1993 when the company started to internalize the quality principles in the whole corporation. He facilitated various quality initiatives and coached Quality Improvement Team and trained employees in quality improvement process and tools.

Yanto specialized his technical expertise in Texaco Asset Team focusing in Enhance Oil Recovery Subsurface Technology in Midland, USA in 1990.

He started his career as Chemical Engineer back in 1984. In his early stage of his career as an engineer, he was Production Engineer, Lead Production Engineer, and Reservoir Engineer in Minas Area.

Yanto graduated from Institute Technology Bandung majoring in Chemical Engineering in 1984. He actively shares his knowledge and experiences to the professional community. He chaired BPPKA/PSC’s Technology Forum in Surabaya in 1995, Vice Secretary of National IATMI in 1995, Chairman of IATMI Chapter Riau in 1998, Secretary of SPE Indonesia Chapter and as guest speaker in many technical forums.

Yanto is married with one son and live in Jakarta.
