Prema lives by this Indian adage. Beginning with a passion for the public relations profession nearly two decades ago, Prema has helped transform the face of public relations in the Indian sub-continent.

An alumna of the Frank Jefkins Institute, U.K, Prema’s established Genesis Public Relations (www.genesisbm.in) in November 1992. The firm quickly grew into India’s most trusted independent public relations consultancy. It was subsequently acquired by WPP as the India arm of Burson-Marsteller. The Holmes Report, named Genesis Burson-Marsteller the ‘India Consultancy of the Year 2008’ as part of its first ever Asia-Pacific consultancies report card.

Prema has been the founding president of the Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI); the National Chair and Council member for India of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA); and on the Board of Management of the International Communication Consultancies Organisation (ICCO).

In recognition of her contribution to global public relations, Prema was invited to be a member of the global jury for the first ever PR Lions at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2009. She was inducted into the ‘ICCO Hall of Fame’ in 2005, thereby joining a select group of global personalities including Daniel Edelman, Founder and Chairman of Edelman, John D. Graham, Chairman & CEO, Fleishman-Hillard and Harold Burson founding Chairman, Burson-Marsteller.

Prema’s real passion though is giving back to the society that led to her setting up the Genesis Foundation (www.genesis-foundation.net), a private trust that facilitates critical medical and financial support to young children from whose family income is less than USD 100 per month. Prema is married to a lawyer. Her son is a professor and daughter is pursuing further studies.
